Jewellery Care Guide
Your jewellery is made to last, but like all treasured objects, it benefits from gentle care to preserve its beauty over time. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your pieces looking their best for years to come.
General Care
Keep it dry. Moisture can accelerate tarnishing and affect some stones and finishes. Avoid wearing your jewellery while swimming, showering, or doing household chores.
Avoid contact with chemicals. Perfume, lotion, hairspray, cleaning products, and chlorine can dull or damage metals, stones, and enamel. Apply cosmetics and fragrances before putting on your jewellery.
Store with care. When not in use, store your jewellery in a dry, closed box or soft pouch. Keeping pieces separate helps prevent scratches and tangling.
Silver
Silver naturally tarnishes over time as it reacts with its environment. This is normal and does not mean that the metal is damaged. Tarnish can usually be removed with appropriate cleaning.
For more detailed instructions, see our How to Polish Your Tarnished Jewellery guide.
Stones & Vitreous Enamel
Natural gemstones vary in hardness and sensitivity. Protect them from knocks, harsh chemicals, and sudden temperature changes.
Vitreous enamel is glass fused to metal at high temperatures. Although durable, it can chip or crack if subjected to a hard impact, so enamelled pieces should be handled with care.
24k Gold
Some Chetaxu pieces feature details in 24k gold, applied using techniques such as gold leaf or keum-boo. These surfaces should be treated gently. Avoid abrasive cleaners and vigorous polishing directly over gold details.
Wearing Tips
- Remove your jewellery before sleeping, showering, swimming, or exercising.
- Put jewellery on last when dressing, after applying lotions, perfumes, and sprays.
- After wearing, gently wipe your piece with a soft, dry cloth to remove skin oils and residue.
With thoughtful care, your jewellery can age beautifully and be worn for many years to come.
