“Memento mori, memento vivere. - Remember that you will die; remember to live.”

A small talisman reminding us that life is finite and that the time we have matters.

This necklace features a skull set against deep black vitreous enamel, framed in silver with delicate filigree details. An oval garnet sits above the shield, adding a deep red accent to the composition.

Handcrafted in sterling and fine silver, this necklace combines traditional filigree with cloisonné enamelling. While the design may be recreated, each piece is individually made by hand, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.

About Vitreous Enamel

Vitreous enamel is the ancient art of fusing powdered glass onto metal at high heat, creating long-lasting luminous surfaces. Each firing transforms fragile grains of glass into a smooth, jewel-like layer, rich with depth and color. In cloisonné enamelling, fine metal wires are carefully shaped and arranged to create individual compartments, which are then filled with coloured enamel and fired in a kiln. This intricate technique allows detailed compositions to be built directly onto the metal surface. Practiced for thousands of years across Byzantine icons, Ottoman jewelry, and Art Nouveau masterpieces, enamel brings a painter’s palette to metalwork — every shade alive with light.

About Filigree

Filigree is an ancient metalworking technique with a history spanning thousands of years. Fine metal wires are carefully twisted, shaped and soldered together to create intricate, lace-like patterns. Traditionally used in jewellery and decorative arts across many cultures, filigree continues to find new expression in contemporary jewellery design.
